Mia Jankowicz is an NCTJ-trained reporter at Insider Inc, covering a broad array of news for its titles Business Insider and Insider.

 

She was previously a digital reporter at The New European, covering Brexit and related political news and featuring on The New European podcast. Prior to this she was a local news reporter for the Welwyn Hatfield Times. She has talked about local news and the unfolding Brexit mess on BBC Three Counties Radio and BBC 5 Live. 

Before becoming a reporter she wrote about cultural politics, contemporary art, and current affairs.

Her work has appeared in Afterall Online, Egypt Independent, Frieze, Flash Art, the Guardian, Hyperallergic, Mada Masr, Mic.com, the New Statesman, Politics.co.uk and The Exhibitionist, and towards catalogue texts for numerous international contemporary artists. 

Her art criticism has been awarded the 2007 Frieze Writers' Prize  and was selected for publication amongst other entries in 2015's International Award for Art Criticism.

 

Between 2014-15 she directed the Visual Arts major at the American University in Cairo. Between 2009-2013 she was Artistic Director of Contemporary Image Collective in downtown Cairo, curating numerous projects and building the NGO's infrastructure. Prior to these posts in Egypt, she ran Gasworks Residency Programme in London, and was selected to participate in de Appel Curatorial Programme in Amsterdam. She holds an MA in Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths College.
